Kanaani expressed concern over the escalation of the situation in the region and called for all sides to respect the terms of the truce in Karabakh and resolve all issues through negotiations.
He also stressed Iran’s sound policy on the dispute over Karabakh, saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the region part of the Azerbaijani territory and believes all issues pertaining to the region including the rights and security of its residents must be resolved within this framework and through dialog.
Kanaani once again highlighted the role of regional nations in helping settle disputes peacefully and stressed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s readiness to host the 3+3 meeting for this purpose
