— Tehran, Muscat confer on expansion of ties

Heads of Iranian and Omani chambers of commerce held a meeting on Monday to discuss expansion of cooperation in various areas, according to the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA).
Head of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Redha bin Juma al Saleh met with Gholamhossein Shafei in Tehran.

 

— Chinese exports solid in October as COVID eases overseas

China’s exports rose by a better-than-expected clip in October, official data showed, with demand strengthening in some key markets such as the United States and COVID numbers easing overseas.
The data from the world’s second-largest economy also suggested that Chinese factories had kept the goods flowing out despite power outages in recent months caused by emission reduction targets, the surging price of coal, and supply shortages.

 

— Ardebil enjoys unparalleled winter tourism capacities

An official from Ardebil Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department described the northwestern province’s winter tourism capacities as unique, saying Ardebil is one of the few places in the world that has rich mineral hot springs along with ski slopes and winter recreation centers.
In an exclusive interview with Iran Daily, the head of Ardebil Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department, Nader Fallahi, compared the position of winter tourism in Ardebil with the Alps in Europe, saying that despite its high capacity for winter tourism, the situation in Ardebil was quite the opposite of the Alps. Tourism thrived only in the summer due to its beautiful and lush nature, while it was closed in winter.

— Navy Deploys Submarines on Second Day of Drill

The Iranian army on Monday held the second day of a massive maneuver, deploying artillery, choppers and combat UAVs to take down mock enemy targets.
The navy also sent its homegrown Tareq and Qadir submarines, which fired torpedoes against surface and subsurface targets in the Sea of Oman and sea-launched cruise missiles to destroy hypothetical enemy vessels in its southwestern waters.
Dubbed Zolfaqar-1400, the massive drill started on Sunday with surface and subsurface vessels, air and naval flights, radars and missile systems.

 

— Sistan and Baluchestan Exports Over $95mn of Goods

Deputy Head of Sistan-Baluchestan Industry, Mine and Trade Organization for Trade Promotion and Commercial Affairs Muhammad Rafi’ Soltanzadeh said that more than $95 million worth of products was exported overseas from this province in seven months.
Soltanzadeh said that more than $95 million worth of non-oil products were exported from customs offices and border marketplaces of this southern province in the seven months of the current year (from March 21 to Oct. 22).

 

— Iran Freestyle Team Runner-Up in 2021 U23 World Wrestling Championships

Russia freestyle team outplaced Iran to win the title of the 2021 U23 World Wrestling Championships. Russia captured the title with 145 points while Iran finished second with 140. The surprise came at the third position which went to Armenia who had 114 points.
Iran’s Amirali Azarpira won a gold medal in the competition in the 97kg weight class. Mohammad Sadegh Firouzpour and Sajad Gholami won two silver medals in the 74kg and 86kg, respectively and five Iranian wrestlers Ahmad Muhammadnejad (57kg), Aliakbar Fazli (70kg), Ali Savadkouhi (79kg), Amirhussein Firouzpour (92kg) and Mehdi Hashemi (125kg) won a bronze medal in the campaign which was held in Belgrade, Serbia.

— Iran’s Quds Force chief meets Iraqi president, PM

In an unannounced meeting on Monday, Iran’s Quds Force Chief Esmaeil Qaani met with Iraqi President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi who escaped an assassination attempt on Sunday. Stressing the importance of stability and unity in Iraq, Qaani said warned any action that threatens the security of Iraq must be avoided.

He also emphasized the need to respond to the demands of the Iraqi people and the protesters to the election results within the framework of the law. In his meeting with al-Kadhimi, the Quds Force chief strongly condemned the failed assassination attempt against the prime minister. Qaani also said Tehran is ready to help investigate the incident.

 

— “Walnut Tree”, “Drown” win awards at Asian Film Festival Barcelona

Iranian movies “Walnut Tree” and “Drown” have received awards at the Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain. Both films were screened in the Special Section of the festival as the winners were honored on Sunday.

The award for best film in this category was given to “Walnut Tree”, which also brought Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian the best director award.

 

— Restoration work completed on Qajar mansion in Yazd

A restoration project has recently been completed on the Qajar-era (1789-1925) Pakdel Mansion in the central province of Yazd, the provincial tourism chief has announced. The project involved repairing worn-out plasterworks as well as strengthening the walls and rooftop, Mohammadreza Falahati said on Sunday.

Located in the historical texture of Yazd, the mansion has a central courtyard and two eastern and western wings, each having two small rooms, while the south side of the building has a hall, the official added.The historical structure was inscribed on the national heritage list in 2003.
