Iran, Afghanistan review Afghan peace process

Iranian Foreign Minister’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian discussed the peace process in Afghanistan with the Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar.

According to the Afghanistan Foreign Ministry, Atmar appreciated Iran’s logical position in line with supporting the peace process in Afghanistan.

He also elaborated on ways of ending violence, massacre, torturing civilians and violation of human rights in areas controlled by the Taliban.

He added that the presence of the Taliban and the increasing violence will lead to promoting extremism and presence of the international terrorist groups like ISIS in Afghanistan and the region.

He stressed the importance of maintaining political, economic and trade cooperation between Tehran and Kabul.

Atmar called for strengthening cooperation in various fields especially regarding peace process.

Meanwhile, Taherian offered Iran’s support for Afghan peace process and preserving the achievements made during the last two decades.

Iran is after reinforcing cooperation between Tehran and Kabul in different fields including borders.
