Before leaving for New York in order to participate in the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations, President Ebrahim Raisi described interaction with the countries of the world, regional, extra-regional and international organisations as one of the key policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and said, “As a member of the United Nations, Iran has always expected this organisation to play a decisive role in development, security, peace and justice in the world”.
The President stated that this is the expectation of all the member countries from the United Nations, and added, “The decisions of the United Nations should be far from any discrimination and injustice and without being influenced by major powers so that what is required by the truth and justice in the world will be formed”.
President Raisi described the reason for attending the United Nations General Assembly to explain the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran and stated, “The United Nations and the General Assembly are a suitable place to express the views and opinions of the Islamic Republic of Iran. A vision in which the desired world is a world free from poverty, free from nuclear weapons and mass killing, and free from injustice and discrimination, where human dignity is taken into account and the many capacities available in the world are used to prevent natural disasters and calamities as a result of hegemonic policies”.
Stating that the enemy is trying to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from being heard and explaining its positions in the world with the power of its media empire, the President clarified, “As a representative of the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I will be the voice of the people to tell the truth from the podium of the UN General Assembly to governments and nations”.
President Raisi named the meeting with the heads of countries participating in the United Nations General Assembly as another program of his trip to New York in order to expand the bilateral relations of our country and noted, “During this trip, as much as time allows, we will meet with the heads of countries and international organisations. Also, a meeting will be held with members of the international media and while answering their questions, the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran on various issues will be explained”.
The President mentioned meeting with American politicians and meeting with Iranians residing in the US as part of his other travel plans and said, “In meeting with resident Iranians, we will try to help strengthen their relationship with Islamic Iran while being aware of their opinions and problems. I hope that this trip will be effective in carrying out the mission that the Iranian nation has entrusted to me, as well as explaining and implementing the views of the Supreme Leader”.
