Amirabdollahian made the proposals during the OIC virtual extraordinary session of the Foreign Ministers Council on Monday.
He emphasized at the OIC session that such insulting moves should be internationally considered a crime, he wrote on his Twitter page.
Dispatching a delegation from OIC to Sweden and Denmark was also proposed at the session, the foreign minister tweeted.
Amirabdollahian added that he firmly called for prosecuting perpetrators of such crimes and severing relations with those two countries or boycotting their products if the insulting acts were repeated.
The OIC held an extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers on July 31, 2023, to take proper moves against the desecration of Muslims’ holy book Quran whose copies were repeatedly burnt in Sweden and Denmark at different times in this month.
According to the OIC, proper actions should be taken “to prevent attacks and insults against the sanctities and beliefs of others and to stop the repetition of such acts of aggression that spread hatred and contempt for religions and threaten the global peace, security, and harmony.”
