Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation on Saturday to discuss issues of mutual interest at bilateral, regional and international levels.
They strongly condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark.
Amirabdollahian hailed Turkey’s condemnation of the insult to the Quran and proposed that Muslim countries’ foreign ministers hold a meeting of the OIC at the earliest opportunity.
The top Iranian diplomat also described the relations between Tehran and Ankara as friendly, brotherly and strategic.
He invited the Turkish foreign minister to visit Tehran and announced Iran’s readiness to hold a joint economic commission between the two neighbors.
Fidan, for his part, once again deplored the desecration of the Quran and welcomed Amirabdollahian’s proposal to hold an emergency meeting of the OIC foreign ministers.
He also thanked the top Iranian diplomat for inviting him to Iran, saying he will travel to Tehran in the near future.
