Gen. Soleimani foiled Western-Zionist schemes: Iranian envoy

Speaking in the commemoration ceremony of General Soleimani in Iran’s Embassy in Lisbon on Monday, Morteza Damanpak Jami elaborated on the role of Soleimani and other Resistance commanders in protecting the dignity of humans and humanitarian law and the religious minorities against the evil measures of terrorist groups like the ISIS and Al-Nusra Front in Iraq and Syria, as well as the independence and territorial integrity of these countries.

He described General Soleimani as the most popular figure in fighting international terrorism and a true anti-terrorism fighter in the contemporary era.

The real reason behind assassinating General Soleimani was the failure of Western-Zionist plots, Damanpak said.

He also noted that the assassins of the general, as the former US President Donald Trump who has officially accepted the responsibility of the crime, should be put to trial and be held accountable, adding that the US is “internationally accountable” on this issue.

General Soleimani and former Iraqi Mobilization Unit Forces commander Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis along with eight other companions were assassinated by the US army in a terrorist drone attack on January 3, 2020.

The attack was carried out at the direct order of former US President Donald Trump.
