Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that over seven million doses of COVID19 vaccine have so far been injected in Iran with another two million doses planned to be injected soon.
Addressing the national-anti-COVID19 committee meeting on Saturday, Rouhani referred to heavy pressures imposed on people during 17 months of pandemic in Iran, saying coronavirus has also brought about damages to transportation, tourism and sports sectors.
He vowed that government will spare no efforts in controlling borders and to delay spread of virus in the country.
He further noted that Iran will receive 6-7 million doses of vaccine this week.
Iran could overcome illegal and cruel sanctions imposed by the United States and rely upon its own capabilities and know-how to become one of the few leading countries in producing coronavirus vaccines.
Following years of suffering from US sanctions, the Iranians are facing restrictions when it comes to import commodities especially medicine and medical equipment.
Several international organizations urged the American authorities to allow import of special goods and necessary equipment into Iran, but Washington has not done anything tangible to avoid health challenges that the Iranians are facing as a result of such sanctions.
