Ali-Asghar Khaji, a senior aide to the Iranian Foreign Minister on special political affairs, on Wednesday discussed the latest developments going on in Syria with other participants of a meeting in Nur-Sultan, the capital city of Kazakhstan.
The Nur-Sultan meeting is being held as the 16th international meeting within the framework of Astana Process to establish peace and stability in Syria.
The meeting began on Wednesday and will continue through Thursday. Delegations from the Syrian government and opposition groups, as well as Iran, Russia and Turkey, as the guarantors of peace talks, are present at the talks, with Iraq and Lebanon also participating the meeting as observer members.
On the first day of the meeting, the Iranian delegation, headed by Khaji, held separate talks with the delegations from Syria, Russia, Turkey, and UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen as well.
During the meetings, the Iranian delegation described its stances on the fight against terrorism, delivering humanitarian supplies, and the continuation of US sanctions against the Syrian nation.
