Putin to meet new Iranian President at BRICS Summit in Kazan: Kremlin

The inauguration of Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian will take place on Tuesday. Iran became a full member of BRICS on January 1, 2024, and active cooperation between Moscow and Tehran is expected to continue after his official inauguration. Pezeshkian has already received an invitation from Moscow to come to Russia for the summit in Kazan.

“The Iranian side already has a valid invitation, and we hope that the new president will come to the summit. We will be glad to see him, and President Putin is preparing for the upcoming contact,” Peskov said.

Putin and Pezeshkian held a phone conversation on July 8, during which the Russian president congratulated his Iranian counterpart on his election victory.
