“Providing the security and safety of the Iranian expatriates in Ukraine are our priority,” Amirabdollahian said in his phone talk with Lavrov.
The Iranian foreign minister pointed to the developments in Ukraine and the presence of Iranian nationals in that country, and expressed the hope that the ongoing crisis will be settled through political talks.
The Russian foreign minister, for his part, elaborated on Moscow’s stances vis-a-vis the Ukraine crisis, and while criticizing the western countries’ approach gave assurances to Amirabdollahian that Russia will seriously take into consideration the safety of foreign countries, including Iran.
